Week 2 Reflections

There are nine passions of a principal: staff development, curriculum development, individual teachers, individual students, community/culture building, leadership skills, management, school performance and social justice. Each of these passions can benefit from action research. When creating an action research project one should make sure the focus is not on changing others methods or practices. One should also use the following guidelines when creating a question to research: it needs to be "clear, concise, and specific; one whose answer you do not already know; free of judgmental language; phrased as an open-ended rather than dichotomous question; and 'doable'." (Dana, 2009, p. 67) It is also important to be flexible and allow your research to evolve and change as you go.
